Natal 8 contains 400 micrograms (μg) of Folic acid (as Methylfolate) and also provides a rich source of Vitamins B6, B12, C, Iron, and Zinc along with Acidophilus, Bifidobacteria & Bulgaricus in a convenient one-a-day capsule. Natal 8 is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Supplemental Folic acid intake increases maternal folate status. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor in the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus. Folate contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy.

Folate, Iron and Vitamin B12 and have a role in the process of cell division. Vitamin C increases Iron absorption, and along with B vitamins contributes to normal immune function. Zinc contributes to normal DNA synthesis and to normal fertility and reproduction. Omega 3 DHA contributes to normal foetal brain and eye development. Vitamin D contributes to the normal absorption and utilisation of Calcium and Phosphorus, normal function of the immune system and has a role in the process of cell division.

The Department of Health’s Chief Medical Officer recommends all pregnant and breastfeeding women should take a daily supplement containing 10μg of vitamin D.
